My device is beeping and won’t move.
Normally when your mobility device beeps of has a flashing diagnostic light/s, it indicates an error situation has accrued. Check your owner’s manual under trouble shooting for a list of error codes. This will point you in the direction of the problem.
Most common causes of error codes are:
Problem: Brake lever in the unlocked or neutral freewheel poison.
Solution: Turn off the unit and set the freewheel lever in the lock or drive position then restart your unit.
Problem: Scooter won’t move when in the locked or drive position.
Solution: Make sure the charger is not plugged in the unit as these units have a safety cut out when plugged in.
My unit won’t move when I operate the throttle or joystick when I turn on the device.
Solutions:
• Never operate the joystick or throttle before tuning on the unit.
• Some powerchair joystick have a lock feature which can stop the operation of the powerchair until unlocked.
Please check your user manual or manufacture for locking and unlocking procedures for your unit.
• Insufficient battery charge or dead batteries
My charger won’t charge my device; is my charger broken?
When your batteries become old or severely discharged your charger will not illuminate the charging indicator light and will not charge the batteries for safety reasons.
If your power light on your charger comes on and there is no visual damage to the charging cable and connector then it could be a fuse or battery problem.
Typically, the chargers power indicator light will not illuminate or will flash indicating that the charger is broken or damaged.
Can I get my device to go faster?
No, all scooters and power wheelchairs are programmed to 100% maximum of the preset speed for that device.
Can I put larger batteries in my unit
If you have a scooter with a battery pack that has the option of extended range, then yes you can increase the size of battery but will need a larger battery pack to accommodate for the larger size batteries. Some larger scooters can accommodate for larger batteries, check with your dealer or with the manufacturer for more details
Most power chairs have set size batteries and cannot be altered due to size restrictions.
With increasing some battery sizes, you may need a larger charger amp rating to charge the bigger batteries.
Can I take my device on a plane or cruise ship
Yes, please check with your airline or cruise operator for any restrictions they may have in place. Some Lithium-Ion batteries are restricted in amp size and cannot be transported on airplanes.
Can I take my device onboard a plane with me?
If you cannot fit your all the pieces of your scooter or powerchair in the same size of a carry-on piece of luggage, then no, the airlines will not allow you to take your unit onboard due to their size. Airline operators would have to store your unit in stowed luggage compartment.
I Hear a clicking noise coming from one side of the scooter
Usually, it’s a loose wheel nut and can be cured by adding Loctite thread locking fluid and tightening the wheel nut of the offending side
A louder grinding sound can be a failing transaxle and should be checked out by your local mobility tech as soon as possible.
